From early back in the 6.x times, I remember a keyboard accessible Control Panel - hit "ESC" and Control Panel opened with an active text-filter where you could type and filter down all the many options in Control Panel. Typically ESC + 2 characters + Enter was enough to reach any place quickly. (E.g. "ESC us" would leave only "Users and Organizations" open, or if there were more, some cursor down keys would quickly make them reachable)
This disappeared some time ago. Application Menu has introduced Ctrl-Shift-M to open the menu, but nothing else. To use keyboard navigation, only Tab is available - no cursor keys, no typing filter to narrow down the selection.
This FR is to bring keyboard navigability back, in all administrative menus: Application Menu and classic Control Panel (together with the Content Menu)
Elements:
Application Menu:
After Ctrl-Shift-M (or Mac equivalent): characters typed should filter down the available options and hide non-matching elements. Ideally from all different areas in there, "Applications", "Commerce" and "Control Panel"
Cursor keys should be able to navigate up-down-left-right through the (remanining) options
Content Menu (and classic Control Panel):
Should be accessible (open-/closable) through a hotkey
When opened with a hotkey: Typing any letter should filter down the available choices (and open all the typically closed accordion sections to make the remaining choices visible)
When Content Menu / classic Control Panel is open, Cursor up-down should navigate through the choices, Cursor right-left should open/close contained elements on headlines
